Samba Sene is a singer, songwriter and percussionist who was born in Senegal, but moved to Scotland 10 years ago. His style is strongly influenced by the jazzy grooves of Senegal and particularly by musicians like Baaba Maal (whom Samba has studied with), Youssou N’Dour and Salif Keita.
He is equally at home on a small stage with just his voice and guitar or with a dance floor and a big fat 8-piece band with percussion and horns. His songs are original and written in English, French and his native Wolof.
Samba will be gracing the Wee Dub Festival with a set of acoustic songs in support of Laid Blak – bringing a welcome dose of Africa to proceedings.
Date: Saturday 2nd February
