Channel One Soundsystem

Channel One Sound System is one of the UK’s best known and most loved reggae sound systems. Having taken over the running of their father’s sound in 1979, Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T took the sound to local blues parties and dances. Mikey played releases from the legendary Channel One studio in Jamaica, adopting the name of Channel One Sound System. In 1983, Channel One started playing at Notting Hill Carnival, their reputation and name grew from there.

Channel One is made up of selector Mikey Dread and MC Ras Kayleb. They play a unique selection of conscious reggae, exclusive dubplates and uplifting steppas. They are now one of the most popular and respected sounds in the world of reggae music, and travel the globe spreading their positive message.

We welcome Channel One back to Wee Dub to play on Messenger Soundsystem at our legendary Sunday evening session.
